Fill

When your order is executed: 'getting filled' means your buy or sell order has been completed.

What is a Fill?

A fill is the completion of an order. When you place a buy order and it executes, you've been "filled." The fill price is the actual price at which the trade was completed.

Fill types

  • Full fill: your entire order is executed at once
  • Partial fill: only some of your shares are executed (common with limit orders on low-volume stocks)
  • Not filled: your limit order price was never reached
